Matthew Zajac features in The Testament of Gideon Mack
James Robertson's best-selling classic novel - The Testament of Gideon Mack - has been adapted into a vibrant new stage version by Matthew Zajac and will tour Scotland in February and March 2025, also featuring Matthew.

Matthew was recently shortlisted in the Actors Award category as part of the 2024 London Pub Theatres Awards for his play, The Tailor of Inverness (Finborough Theatre) which has won several awards and has played around the world. In 2009, he was named Best Actor in the Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland for his performance in the same play. His best-selling memoir of the same name was published by Sandstone Press in 2013. His documentary film, Circling A Fox – the Story of The Tailor of Inverness, was broadcast by the BBC in 2021/2022. Matthew has also written several plays, including his adaptation of James Robertson’s novel The Testament of Gideon Mack, which premiered in 2025.
Matthew has also appeared in numerous BBC radio plays and is an experienced voiceover artist and documentary narrator. He has been Artistic Director of Dogstar Theatre Company since 2004.
